About Us
2002 New Beginnings:
Early in 2002, the Scott family decided that it was time for a change. Crime in South Africa was getting worse - with no sign of it abating. They say the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but in our case it was (literally) - because we had decided to move to Ireland.
Lucan village
We had no intention of buying a B&B when we left South Africa .. but one fortunate day when visiting the Lucan village, we noticed a B&B with a FOR SALE sign. We fell in love with the quaint historic dwelling and made the big decision to go for it!
Water under the bridge:
2011 and there's been lots of water under the bridge - literally and figuratively. We've lived through the boom times and now we're living through a tough time for the whole country. We believe it's only a matter of time before the tourists start flocking back into Ireland again. There's great value to be had all over Ireland, and yes, at Moat Lodge too. :-)

(The Brains):
Wayne was born in Port Elizabeth South Africa. An accountant by trade, but followed his entreprenurial spirit by launching Celebrity Wines in 2007. He imports a range of wines endorsed by professional golfers like Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Nick Faldo, Retief Goosen, David Frost, John Daly and Christy O'Connor Jnr.
On weekends, Wayne will usually be the one cooking the breakfasts. Admin and accounts, website and online bookings all fall into his domain. |

(The Energy): Genevieve is the one normally responsible for the jokes, laughing and giggling. She has mastered the setting of the breakfast tables and I'm sure in a few years will be able to serve breakfasts too. For now, let's leave her unpacking the dishwasher. ;-)
